KPFA Morning Mix:  preview for the week of March 7th
The Morning Mix crew brings you this preview of programming planned for the week of the hundredth anniversary of International Women’s Day.KPFA’s new morning lineup begins daily Monday through Friday with Al Jazeera English at 6:00 am, Democracy Now! at 7:00 am, and the KPFA Morning Mix at 8:00 am with a local focus on issues, activism, and culture.International Women’s Day has celebrated the work and achievements of women for a hundred years. It’s an official holiday in 27 countries around the world, including countries as different as Cambodia and Uganda.  At KPFA we’ll celebrate this historic day with women-centered programming for the entire 24-hour period, midnight to midnight, on March 8.  Tune in any time all day long.

Monday, March 7th
At the Morning Mix, we begin celebrating International Women’s Day on Monday as Tara Dorabji and Carmen Reed interview Nell Myhand and Kim Sparrow about the global women’s strike and the march of mothers planned for International Women’s Day.
Tuesday, March 8th:
On Tuesday, the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, Tara Dorabji and Adrienne Lauby interview Grandmother and living legend, Carrie Dann about her life long work for the sovereignty of the Shoshone Nation. Diana Buttu, Palestinian lawyer and analyst will discuss the role of women in the uprisings across Arab lands. And Susan de Silva of the Child Molestation Research and Prevention Institute talks about 35 years of feminist work to expose and end pedophilia.
Wednesday, March 9th:
Public Transportation:  With regional work across central and northern California, as well as hope and strategies useful to local transit riders and advocates, today’s show features three organizations that work in the east bay urban area.  We talk to Lindsey Imai and others about the exciting public transportation advocacy of Genesis, ACCE Riders for Transit Justice, and Urban Habitat.
Thursday, March 10th:
Dr. Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff of Project Censored host reports and interviews from the investigative news project that enlists student and faculty from more than thirty colleges and universities to expose media censorship and under-covered stories.
Friday, March 11th:
Radio veteran Leslie Stovall brings you her weekly Friday lineup of distinguished guests to and music to the KPFA airwaves.
